STAR Events

STAR Events are projects in which Students Take Action with Recognition. There are about 30 events that students may participate in. The focus of these events includes fashion and interior design, culinary skills, child development, career skills, and communication.

Students begin working on their events in September, and most will compete at the district level in November. 1st place and 2nd place winners will advance to the regional level, which is held in February. If a student wins 1st and 2nd place at the regional level, they will advance to the state level in March. To move on to nationals, the student must earn a 80% or higher and place 1st or 2nd at the state level. Nationals is held in June/July. Some events are state events and will not advance to nationals.
